Over the last 20 years, rehabilitation robotics have been extensively used in stroke rehabilitation. Companies like Tyromotion and Hocoma translated successfully their advanced products in clinical practice. By now, we have a much better understanding of the benefits of rehabilitation robotics and the upcoming challenges. During my talk, I will discuss four aspects related to the future of rehabilitation robotics. First, I will talk about the upcoming technological challenges. Second, the regulatory challenges regarding rehabilitation protocols. Third, The reimbursement challenges and why some robots are more successful in the market than others. Last but not least, I will address the issue of rehabilitation robotics usability and effectiveness (where and when to use rehabilitation robotics).
